How tax you capital gains in Romania
How tax your capital gains in Romania
Originally, the Romanian capital gains tax has been only 1% for both Romanian and foreign investors and applied on individual transactions (gains count not have been offset by losses).
From 2005, gains of sales are taxed at two different rates:
1% for investments held longer then one year and
16% for those held for less then one year.
Dividends, business profit and income are of course taxable.
Comparing to Czech Republic, where the tax test is only 6 months and the tax rate is 5 %, Romania is still little bit behind the rest of Central Europe in approach to investors.
However with expected harmonization of economics of Romania with European Union, we can expect decrease of the rate of taxation and than Romania could happen even better investment opportunity than now.
